About Veronica

Veronica’s story starts in Philadelphia, a city known for its strength, resilience, and deep-rooted sense of community. Growing up there, she experienced firsthand the realities many families still face in public education: overcrowded classrooms, transportation challenges, teacher shortages, and concerns around school safety. Those early experiences shaped her understanding of what students, parents, and educators truly need to succeed, and they continue to influence her perspective today.

Veronica went on to serve our country as a United States Navy Veteran for over 10 years, where she developed discipline, integrity, and a deep commitment to service. That commitment did not end when she returned home. It simply shifted focus toward serving her community and advocating for families.

She is a proud wife to her husband, Carlos, a fellow Navy Veteran, and they have been together for over 20 years. Veronica is also a mother of five and a grandmother of two. With three children who have completed their education in Clay County schools and two currently enrolled, she has experienced the school system from multiple perspectives. She has also homeschooled her children at different stages, giving her a well-rounded understanding of how students learn and what families need to support their success. In addition, as a caregiver to her mother, she brings patience, compassion, and a strong sense of responsibility into every role she serves.

Veronica is known for showing up for her community. Whether it is donating food and clothing, working alongside local nonprofits, or helping provide hygiene items to individuals and children experiencing homelessness, she believes service should be consistent and rooted in genuine care.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Management and is currently pursuing her Master of Business Administration from Western Governors University. She understands that strong schools require thoughtful, responsible financial decisions and is committed to ensuring resources are used effectively to directly benefit students and classrooms.

Veronica is not running for school board because it sounds good. She is running because she has lived it, as a student, a veteran, a parent, a caregiver, and a community advocate. She is committed to being a strong, steady voice for students, families, and educators, focused on transparency, accountability, and real results for Clay County schools.
